Proposed 20mph Speed Limits

At the meeting on 27 July 2023 (minute 44 refers), Members requested an update at the next meeting regarding proposed 20mph speed limits in Mid Devon and the possibility of introducing speed limits/speed reduction features around schools in the area.

A verbal update will be given at the meeting.

Electoral Divisions:  All in Mid Devon

Minutes:

The Committee noted that works are progressing to implement the 20mph speed limits in Tiverton and design work for Uffculme is ongoing and a meeting has been arranged with the local member.

Subject to ongoing funding, it was reported that the Council will consider requests for 20mph schemes and they will be prioritised for delivery subject to resources. They will not include physical measures.

In response to a question about the cost of implementation of a 20mph zone within a parish, it was noted that this would vary with the type of scheme necessary. Before implementation of a scheme, initial concept work would be required, followed by detailed design work and would be costed per scheme.
