Purpose:
The purpose of the Shadow Sub-National Transport
Body for the South West Peninsula will enable more effective
engagement between the partner authorities and the Department for
Transport about the challenges linked to the growth ambitions and
associated strategic investment needs of the area.
This puts in place a clear
mechanism for Government to engage with the South West Peninsula
authorities on strategic transport investment matters on a wider
geographical basis, complementing the work of transport authorities
across the wider South West.
The shadow sub national
transport body was established in Autumn 2018.
The Membership of the Shadow
Sub-National Transport Body also includes co-opted Members from
Highways England, Network Rail, Heart of the South West LEP, Isles
of Scilly Council, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP, Department for
Transport, Western Gateway SSTB, Stakeholder Forum Chair, Homes
England.
The Committee also has a public
participation scheme that can be found
here.
In relation to the current
COVID 19 pandemic, the Government has given Local Authorities
regulations to hold their meetings remotely. For further
