Presentation from Penny Tranter, Chartered Meterologist from the Met Office and James Chubb, Countryside Team Leader, East Devon District Council.
Additional documents: Minutes: The Committee received two presentations on Climate Change. The first presentation was from Penny Tranter, Chartered Meteorologist from the Met Office, which gave comprehensive scientific information on Climate Change, including:
- Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - Ten Indicators of a Warming World - Climate Risks, Extreme Events and Related Impacts - Number of World Natural Catastrophes 1980-2018 - UKCP18 (UK Climate projections) 2018 - Representative Concentration Pathway - Future UK temperatures - Southwest sea Level Rise
The second presentation from James Chubb, Countryside Team Leader from East Devon District Council covered Climate Change, Biodiversity and Species Extinction, including:
- Species extinction as a result of habitat loss - Woodland regeneration (tree planting) - Coastal squeeze phenomenon - Carbon sequestration by habitat - Newly created saltmarsh - Black Hole Marsh
The Committee expressed their sincere thanks to both Penny Tranter and James Chubb for their thought-provoking presentations. Members requested that copies of the Met Office presentation be forwarded to them for wider circulation.
