RESOLVED that the minutes of the meetings held on 7 and 9 October 2015 be approved as correct records.

43 People s Services: Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection (Minute 41/9 October 2015)

The Committee considered the Joint Report of the Strategic Director, People and the Head of Services for Communities (SC/15/25 - text only | pdf SC/15/25) on the proposed future leadership arrangements for children s social work and child protection; the Committee having previously not been able to make an appointment to this Head of Service post on two occasions in the absence of suitably qualified or experienced persons.

The Committee noted also that the contractual arrangement with the current interim Head of Service was due to expire at the end of March 2016 and would not be subject to any further extension.

It was MOVED by Councillor Hart, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes, and

RESOLVED

(a) that the County Council endorse the engagement of a new interim appointment from 1^st April 2016 to act as Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection via a consultancy arrangement for the duration of a 2 year contract;

(b) that the Head of Human Resources be authorised to take all steps necessary to secure an appointment through the Council s Social Work Agency Framework or other appropriate agencies as outlined in Report SC/15/25 - text only | pdf SC/15/25.
