*39 People s Services: Appointment of Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection (Minute 34/29 May 2015)

The Head of Services for Communities reported on the recruitment process for attracting eligible candidates for the above Head of Service, including advice from the Executive Search company (Gatenby Sanderson).

It was MOVED by Councillor Hart, SECONDED by Councillor Clatworthy, and

RESOLVED that the Committee re-affirm it s advice that, in accordance with paragraph 4.6 of the Pay Policy Statement for 2014/15 and the Chief Officer Employment Rules, the Council should appoint a substantive post of Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection as previously approved and authorised by the County Council (Minute 34/29 May 2015 refers).

*40 Exclusion of the Press and Public

RESOLVED that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for part of the following item of business under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 12A of the Act, namely information relating to an individual or likely to reveal the identity of an individual, and in accordance with Section 36 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 by virtue of the fact that the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

41 People s Services: Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection

The Committee interviewed 4 candidates for the post of Head of Children s Social Work and Child Protection with a view to making a recommendation upon an appropriate appointment to the County Council on 10 December 2015.

The interviews having been completed and the suitability of the candidates for the post having been fully discussed and all relevant factors having been considered and taken into account and the Committee then being of the view that the press and public need no longer be excluded from the meeting for final determination of its recommendation to the County Council:

It was MOVED by Councillor Hart, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes, and

RESOLVED that the press and public be now readmitted to the meeting.

It was then MOVED by Councillor Hart, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes, and

RESOLVED that none of the candidates having demonstrated the qualities and requirements needed to the satisfaction of the Interviewing Panel, no appointment be made at this time.
