*65 Minutes

RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 12 October 2007 be signed as a correct record.

*66 West Devon Rural Transport Project

The Committee received a presentation from Anne Kingdon, Transport Access Development Worker on her work on this partnership project to provide improved community transport services. Anne Kingdon outlined:

her role - which was to reduce social exclusion and rural isolation by improving awareness and understanding of transport and access issues across West Devon;

her current work programme and activities - the highest priority was the production of a transport booklet for households in West Devon;

her proposed future activities - which included: developing work with outreach teams; creating a database of Voluntary Car Services; acting as an information hub for West Devon; improving disabled access to town and countryside; working with Dartmoor National Park; and increasing access to market towns for young people.

and responded to queries and comments from members on matters including: the distribution of the transport booklet; and the level of use of Fare Cars and community transport generally.

It was MOVED by Councillor Connelly, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes and

RESOLVED that the presentation be noted.

*67 Princetown Partners

The Committee received an update from Sonia Burgess, Assistant County Community and Strategy Officer, on the work of Princetown Partners, the management board which brought together members of the local community and service providers to improve local service provision and tackle social inclusion. Sonia drew attention to the Partners latest action plan and priorities; initiatives under development and achievements to date. Sonia Burgess responded to queries and comments from members.

It was agreed that:

the partnership was working well and would be able to build on its existing sound base;

this partnership model was capable of wider application, particularly in connection with the development of the Local Area Agreement.

It was MOVED by Councillor Connelly, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes and

RESOLVED that the presentation be noted.

*68 Local Area Agreement (LAA) West Devon Perspective

The Community and Strategy Officer:

circulated a briefing note on the second generation LAA 2008 11 and a draft list of targets/priorities;

referred to discussions with District Councils on the targets/priorities;

invited members to comment on the targets/priorities from the West Devon perspective;

pointed out that up to 35 targets/priorities were allowed.

Committee members agreed to discuss LAA targets/priorities informally on 18 February 2008.

*69 West Devon County Committee Locality Budget

The Committee considered the report of the Community and Strategy Officer (EEC/08/1/HQ - text only | pdf EEC/08/1/HQ) setting out the position as at 6 December 2007 regarding expenditure by members on local projects.

It was MOVED by Councillor Connelly, SECONDED by Councillor McInnes and

RESOLVED

(a) that the decisions made by members regarding the use of the West Devon Locality Budget as set out in the report be confirmed;

(b) that Councillor Hosking s decision to contribute 5000 towards the design costs of the proposed extension to Bere Alston Village Hall be also confirmed.

*70 Member Development Update

Further to Minute *58 and Agenda item 8, the Committee noted:

progress made by the Member Development Steering Group;

the launch of a Member Development website;

the request that members consider their future learning and development needs and provide feedback on any development activities in which they had participated.

*71 Dates of Future Meetings

The Committee noted that meetings would be held on the following dates:

11 July 2008

10 October 2008

9 January 2009
