8. Member Development Update

Members may recall the last meeting where an update was received on the Member Development Strategy and Charter. A representative from each of the County Committees was appointed to sit on the steering group.

Since that time the Member Development Steering Group has met and has been looking at learning and development issues and opportunities for Members, including personal development portfolios, training opportunities and requirements and methods of communication.

There will be a new Member Development website being launched just after Christmas and in the New Year Members will be requested to consider their learning and development needs for the coming year. It would be helpful if Members took time to consider any development needs they might have and respond appropriately to the email that will be issued in due course. In addition, if Members have participated in any development activities please give feedback (via Marion Geare - marion.geare@devon.gov.uk) on the quality of the event (i.e. was it good, could it have been better etc). All this information will help to provide future learning opportunities that are fit for purpose and which meet your requirements in the future.

Please feedback any comments on this work either directly to Marion Geare or via the County Committee representative on the Member Development Steering Group.
