RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 3 July 2014 be signed as

a correct record.

*19 Teignbridge Travel and Bus Plans

Mr John Richardson-Dawes, Principal Transport Co-ordination Officer, Services for Communities outlined the work of the Transport Co-ordination Centre (TCC) meeting the County Council s statutory school transport duties and TCC s involvement with concessionary fares, adult services, the voluntary sector and the County Council s fleet of vehicles.

The presentation and discussion also included:-

-Difficult climate for bus services for both bus operators and the County Council (including high profile court cases with loss of operator licences, increasing costs coupled with reductions in central and local government expenditure and services, future uncertainty). However, positively Devon had increasing passenger numbers, contrary to the national downward trend;

-Use of national bus pass now levelled/reduced, dedicated/casual pass holder users;

-Travel growth generally, slower than anticipated;

-Devon objective to maintain sustainable bus services and provide a safety net to rural areas, minimise the impact on passengers of any reductions, encourage commercial initiatives;

-Subsidies for per passenger thresholds (variable);

-Tough Choices impact assessment and external funding;

-User friendly bus stops, information provision, new real time bus and rail travel information, integrated bus and rail tickets;

-Disabled access buses - provision of vehicles, impact on routes and review of real time/timetable information on disabled designated vehicles after 1 January 2015 phased regulatory changes to vehicles;

-Community Transport.
