*1 Election of Chairman

RESOLVED that Councillor Younger-Ross be elected Chairman for the ensuing year.

*2 Election of Vice-Chairman

RESOLVED that Councillor Barisic be elected Vice-Chairman for the ensuing year.

*3 Minutes

RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 14 March 2013 be signed as

a correct record.

*4 Future Arrangements of the Committee

The Community Strategy Development Officer commented on the exploration of future arrangements for business of this Committee and members noted the current term of reference as set out in the County Council s Constitution.

Members suggestions and comments included:-

-that topics of interest that the Committee could consider should be identified, with one or two issues being considered at any future meetings;

-that the Committee s consideration of issues should conclude with recommendations that went forward to Cabinet/Scrutiny;

-that current repetition of business also considered by the County Council s Scrutiny Committees be avoided, acknowledging that:-

-the Committee could perform a useful scrutiny function across the district area;

-members should invite to future meetings representatives of: the Highways Agency (responsible for the A30, A38 and M5); public transport operators (Country Bus and Stagecoach) as appropriate.

RESOLVED

(a) that future agendas be prepared with the above issues in mind and the Locality Development Officer liaise with members and construct a programme for the November 2013 and March 2014 meetings;

(b) that details of all Educational Trusts in this Committee s area be forwarded to members for information.

*5 Future Meetings

All meetings to commence at 10am (unless otherwise specified) at Forde House, Newton Abbot.

RESOLVED that further consideration be given to meetings of this Committee and the Teignbridge Highways and Traffic Orders Committee running immediately on from one another, provided times for agenda business could be effectively managed.
