RESOLVED that Councillor Brook be elected Chairman for the ensuing year.

*60 Petitions/Parking Policy Reviews

Parking in Chagford and Moretonhampstead - Response to Petition

[An item taken under s18 of the Traffic Management Act, 2004 relating to any reviews of parking policy sought in line with the Council s Petition Scheme] (https://new.devon.gov.uk/democracy/guide/constitutionparts2-4/part-4-section-7-petition-scheme/).

The Committee received and noted the Report of the Head of Highways, Capital Development Waste (HCW/15/45 - text only | pdf HCW/15/45) on a petition received in March 2015 Traffic Wardens in Chagford and Moretonhampstead objecting to inflexibility towards enforcement.and on the operation of the enforcement service.

The Head of Service confirmed that the petition was outside the scope of central Government guidance which provided an opportunity for residents to challenge parking policies, but not the manner in which they were enforced.

The report had concluded that the enforcement service provided by the County Council was balanced, fair, proportionate and consistent across the county.

*61 Actions Taken Under Delegated Powers

The Committee received the report of the Head of Highways, Capital Development and Waste (HCW/15/46 - text only | pdf HCW/15/46) on actions taken in respect of Traffic Regulation Orders under delegated powers, following consultation with the Chairman and local County Councillors.
