A Special Meeting of the North Devon County Committee will be held on the above date at 10.00am in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre, North Walk, Barnstaple to consider the following matters.

4. Regeneration of the Forches Area in Barnstaple
At its meeting on 25 September 2009, the County Committee resolved (Minute *6) to hold a special meeting to consider, following a presentation by North Devon Homes and explanation of Devon County Council s response, whether to ask the Cabinet to review the decision not to make a contribution to the North Devon Homes project to renew PRC homes in the area . The meeting is being held for this purpose.
The County Community Strategy Officer (North Devon and Torridge) and the Area Engineer (North) will present a report by the Deputy Executive Director of Environment, Economy and Culture (EEC/09/261/HQ - text onlyEEC/09/261/HQ) giving a summary of the background leading to the regeneration of the Forches area in Barnstaple being considered at this meeting, and a summary of roles and responsibilities of interested parties (copy attached - Page 7). Councillor Mumford (Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Strategic Planning) will attend and speak in accordance with Standing Order 25.
Mr Martyn Gimber (Chief Executive, North Devon Homes) has been invited to attend and make a presentation on the NDH project.
The Committee will then consider what position it wishes to take.
